It’s been said that the weekly troop meeting is the glue that holds a Scout troop together. From beginning to end, there should always be something happening; creating a focus, capturing, and maintaining the Scouts’ attention, and providing the grounds for rewarding experiences. We strive to create fun and engaging Troop Meetings for our Scouts every week.
Weekly Troop Meetings
Troop 41 meets every Tuesday evening at American Legion Post 112 (located at 1027 Washington Street in Abington). Every Troop meeting starts promptly at 6:45PM and runs until 8:30PM. During the summer, following Summer Camp until September, we usually meet biweekly. Scouts are expected to attend the entire meeting unless leaders are informed of an early departure in advance. This is to ensure the safety of all the Scouts. When the meeting is over, parents MUST come into the meeting to pick-up their Scout. We cannot allow them to walk out alone.
Courts of Honor
The fourth step of Advancement in Scouting is Recognizing the Scout. The accomplishments of our Scouts and leaders are recognized at Courts of Honor, which are held twice yearly. Usually in January or February and again in September, both during a regularly scheduled Troop meeting. Parent’s attendance at our Courts of Honor is an easy way to demonstrate involvement in your Scouts’ Scouting progress. Scouts typically receive patches they earn before the Court of Honor. However, at Courts of Honor, Scouts will receive public recognition for all they have done since the previous Court of Honor.
Calendar
Scouts are always informed of details to all of Troop 41’s events. Every Troop meeting ends with announcements, which usually begin at 8:20 pm. It is highly recommended that parents are at least present for this part of the meeting. Our Scoutmaster may communicate these announcements and event details to parents and Scouts via email as needed, but most information will be discussed in person at Troop Meetings. Scouts should speak with their Patrol Leader or the Senior Patrol Leader with any questions about the Troop Calendar.
